This blog is about children’s literature—for all ages. It is a resource for educators, parents, or anyone else with an interest or need for children’s book recommendations.
We’ll recommend books both new and not so new. We want to help you discover books you may not know about. Rest assured; we’ll be pulling lots of gems from the stacks! You’ll find tips for incorporating books into lesson plans, we’ll highlight books that are fun, books that are serious, books centered around particular themes, books for kids who don’t like to read (often referred to as “reluctant readers”, but we do not like that moniker very much), we’ll create posts designed to help you navigate the arena of reading development, and so much more!
Donna Rauch, creator of From the Stacks, is a twenty-three-year veteran of the bookselling business with over a decade working exclusively in a children’s book department. She has also partnered with numerous schools, educators, and literacy organizations both as a children’s bookseller and as a community development coordinator. Most recently, Donna founded Library Lifeline which provides fundamental library services in schools without school librarians. She’s a member of the American Library Association and the Association of Library Service to Children.
Donna is passionate about reading and literacy and she never outgrew her love of children’s literature. As a bookseller, she loved nothing more than having book talks with her customers. Her vision is that From the Stacks will be a virtual version of those interactions.
We’re so happy you stopped by, and we welcome your feedback on our posts!
